I’m nervous and have never groomed a dog before. Is that okay?
Absolutely! Many of our students begin with little or no grooming experience.
Our courses are designed to teach you step by step in a friendly, supportive, and encouraging environment. We understand that learning a new skill can feel overwhelming at first, so we take the time to explain each technique, demonstrate practical skills, and provide plenty of hands-on guidance.
Our goal is to build your confidence as well as your grooming skills, so you’ll never be expected to know everything on day one. No question is ever too small, and we’re here to support you throughout your learning journey.
If you’d like to discuss your experience level before booking, please email training@callanderfamily.com and we’ll be happy to help you choose the course that’s right for you.
How long are the courses?
Course lengths vary depending on the program. We offer one-day workshops through to our intensive 10 and 15-day professional grooming courses.
Are the courses practical?
Yes. Our training combines theory with extensive hands-on practical experience, allowing you to build confidence while working with a variety of dog breeds and coat types.
How many students are in each class?
We keep our class sizes small so every student receives plenty of individual guidance and hands-on support throughout their training.
Will I work on real dogs?
Yes. Students gain practical experience by working on real dogs, who qualify as student dogs with the owner permission under the supervision of an experienced instructor.
Do I receive a certificate?
Yes. Students who successfully complete their course will receive a Certificate of Completion from Callanders Canine Cuts Training Academy.
What should I bring?
We recommend comfortable clothing, enclosed non-slip shoes, and a positive attitude. If your course requires specific grooming equipment, we’ll let you know before your start date.
If you have any questions before your course, please email training@callanderfamily.com.
Do I need to purchase my own grooming equipment?
