I have recently completed the 3-day Bathing and Grooming Assistant Course with Callanders Grooming Academy and would like to provide feedback to Julie and the team.
The course covered all the basics in grooming including bathing and systems, brushing, nail trimming, types of coats and products used.
Julie was very patient and kind in her teaching and impressed me with her efforts in providing me with the necessary skills required to become a groomer’s assistant.
Julie is also very dedicated and passionate toward her business, staff and customers.
I have learned a new set of skills as an adult learner and have surprised myself. I am very excited to see how my future in the dog grooming industry progresses.
I have and would further recommend The Grooming Academy to anyone interested in a start or change of career.

I recently completed the 10-Day Professional Dog Grooming Course with Julie, and it was an incredibly rewarding experience.
Throughout the course, I gained a wealth of knowledge, from the fundamentals of dog grooming and the different types of bathing treatments to understanding salon operations and learning how to become an effective grooming assistant. As the course progressed, we explored the tools of the trade, safety procedures, and identifying key danger points before moving on to the exciting hands-on grooming component.
Julie is a wonderful instructor whose gentle, patient, and supportive teaching style made me feel comfortable and confident throughout the entire learning journey. Her passion for the industry and commitment to her students’ success were evident every day.
The skills and knowledge I have gained have given me the confidence to take the next step towards starting my own small grooming business. I am incredibly grateful to Julie and the amazing team at Callander Canine Cuts for their encouragement, expertise, and support.

I’ve recently completed the 10 day intensive grooming course that Julie offers with her training academy at Callanders.I flew interstate to complete this training, and after a few negative experiences with other grooming schools, I was slightly uncertain. My expectations, however, were exceeded by a far.Julie was incredibly accommodating to my needs and went above and beyond to ensure I got the most out of the course for the time I was there. I can confidently say I would return for further training with her in the future.The course covered all the fundamentals of dog grooming in an intensive yet structured format, with exposure to a variety of breeds, coat types, and grooming requirements.The training was delivered in such a way that I was able to absorb a huge amount of information without ever feeling stressed or overwhelmed. In a short timeframe, I learned washing and blow-drying techniques for different coat types, fluff drying, clipping and blade lengths, basic scissoring and trimming, nail clipping, coat care, customer service, equipment selection and maintenance, and more.One great aspect was how Julie adapted her teaching style to suit the way I learn best. There was a strong focus on hands-on training, which maximised my learning and allowed me to build confidence quickly. Julie was patient, encouraging, and always willing to answer questions.The Callanders team were very friendly and welcoming, and it was clear that everyone genuinely cared about the dogs and the success of their students which was great to see.I felt I left the course with a range of valuable practical skills, increased confidence, and a much better understanding of professional dog grooming and the industry. I’d genuinely recommend Julie and the Callanders team to anyone looking to start their grooming journey or further develop their skills.
